Winston is a russet coloured apple. It stores well and taste gets more mellow after some time in storage. It is partly self fertile so can be a good apple for small gardens where there is room for only one tree . Most apple trees need another variety to help pollinate and produce fruits. Sulphate of potash applied a few times a year helps flowering and therefore fruiting.
